The first Looney Tunes film released theatrically that was not distributed by Warner Bros
Synopsis
Porky Pig and Daffy Duck are Earth’s only hope when it faces the threat of an alien invasion. Pictures. The film was originally intended to be a streaming exclusive on the Max streaming service. After the company dropped out of distributing it, the film was shipped to other distributors, with GFM Animation eventually acquiring the worldwide distribution rights and changing the film to a theatrical release.

Inside the meteorite, when Daffy demonstrates his talent for levers, he pulls the lever to lower the machine and pushes it to raise it again. But when Porky and Petunia are tied up, Daffy pushes the lever forward and the machine lowers them again. At the end of the credits, Porky Pig makes his classic statement: “That’s it, folks!” only to be interrupted by Daffy Duck, who tells him that this is not the end of the movie and that they need a sequel. Mr. I am writing this review from Italy, where the film was released on November 7th. I was quite curious to see it for all the various reasons that many others have already expressed. And once I finished watching it all I could think was… They finally did it!
They finally made a REAL film where these characters can show all their crazy traits in the most genuine way
The result is a great balance between this more classic aura (in more ways than you might think) and the more modern setting. First of all, the thing I am sure everyone will agree on: it was so satisfying to see 2D used again in a big production and in such a fluid way that perfectly serves the characters’ expressiveness and dynamism, and all the dimensions of the settings . And speaking of characters, I loved the idea of focusing it on Porky and Daffy, they are simply the best duo in the Tunes bunch, although I have to admit I prefer the Chuck Jones ones. version of the duck, the more greedy and self-centered one, rather than the completely moody one, but he does his job well here, so I can’t complain.
And the thing with the mind-controlling Gum makes for some images that managed to be both funny and horrifying
Porky is just Porky, but he does quite well too, and I liked the use of Petunia, she was really funny in her own way, and her design was really adorable. The alien invader had his moments too, his design is perhaps simple but quite effective, clearly paying homage to classic 40’s sci-fi films, just like the rest of the film does. So all in all, a perfect Looney Tunes storyline, that for many might be too simple or lacking in originality, and while I agree that they could have been a bit more ambitious in terms of plot, and that some of the gags don’t really work, I also think that all in all you should take it as a sincere love letter to the characters and their legacy, a good way to introduce them to a new audience and to remind old fans that this is not a story for everyone, yet!
