Synopsis

As a prequel to the original Dune film, it tells how the Rossak sisterhood became the Bene Gesserit.

The incident where Valya Harkonnen uses her voice comes from a book called Mentats of Dune. The three books intertwine the development of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk Doctors. I don’t want to criticize just the first episode of a TV series, but this one was average on every level. The acting was poor, aside from a few of the big name actors like Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and maybe Travis Fimmel.
The story was very weak and the dialogue was not worth the wait
The rest of the cast looked like they just came from the film academy or something. I love slow dramas that take forever to build because I know they are worth the wait. But this episode was not only slow, with a lot of stuff happening, but it was just plain boring, I don’t know how else to put it. The soundtrack, which was not that great in the movies, was a little off here, with some familiar sounds popping in here and there, but the timing just wasn’t right.
I heard a lot of music here that had no effect
I remember how long movies were just people talking and then boom, Hans Zimmer did his magic and I got really excited. But I know he wasn’t involved in the noises here, and I don’t even need to check. I’m not sure if Denis Villeneuve was involved in this production, I hope not. My question is, did you even like that this was done?
Food for thought
After two epic movies, would an average TV show like this impact the long-awaited third movie? The reason I’m wondering is because The Penguin was so good that I appreciated The Batman even more than I did after watching it and I can’t wait to see the second movie. So how would Dune: Prophecy impact the third movie, if there is one?
