Plot
Charles, a pensioner, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private detective and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a nursing home. Based on the Chilean documentary “El Agente Topo”.
You’ll find yourself so invested that you just have to know who it is!
To be honest, I have to admit that at first glance I wasn’t really sure if this series was even for me, but somehow it managed to pull me in. All the characters are very easy to love and you can really identify with the person in their life.
It’s also a gentle reminder that we’re all here trying to do the same thing, live & enjoy life so we can do our best to get along and most importantly be kind to each other
My favorite quote from the series is “Every great thing in your life, when I look back on it, it feels like a miracle.” Very poetic because it touches each and every one of us. I also admit it was a little strange seeing Ted Danson in this role, especially when you know him as Cheers character “Sama”; but very soon on “Charles” tugs at your heartstrings and doesn’t leave you with sad memories of “Sam.” A bittersweet yet gentle reminder that Father Time has no favorites.
It’s a nice change of pace that doesn’t make you feel guilty for enjoying yet another “crime” show
I hope you watch it and learn & empathize with the daily challenges of some in our society that we live with in our daily lives.
