Partenope is a woman named after her city. Is she a mermaid or a myth? In Greek mythology, Partenope is the mermaid who committed suicide after failing to charm Ulysses. Her body was washed up in the flood to the site of Castel dell’Ovo, and for this reason she gave her name to the city that later became Neapolis, Naples. Paolo’s direction of Gary is 10/10. Great film. Great director and great actor. Gary Oldman definitely carried the entire film and Paolo Sorrentino made a great choice with Gary Oldman as John Cheever. The story is beautiful The film is typically Artsy Fartsy like all things Paolo Sorrentino. John Cheever is a fantastic character, played by the fantastic Gary Oldman, and his character definitely made the movie so good. This movie is definitely worth checking out if you like Gary Oldman or art films. Paolo Sorrentino is a great director and the movie made me think about myself. It’s actually an underrated masterpiece.
