My (almost) ideal: 4 months with Xiaomi Poco F3 for 32,000 rubles

Home/! Without a column/My (almost) ideal: 4 months with Xiaomi Poco F3 for 32,000 rubles

In the summer I set out the goal: to find the perfect phone around 30 thousand rubles. Let me remind you that the ideal in my understanding is a hefty screen, the smooth work of Android, a minimum of brakes in games, full day of work from the battery and at least one, but really good camera. Then I started with Samsung Galaxy A72 , But he remained unhappy: I did not like the screen, performance, no camera. Then I promised that the next phone on the tests would be Xiaomi. So, in August, I got on tests POCO F3 for 32 thousand rubles (senior version 8/256 GB) – and for me This is the perfect phone I have been using for four months now.

Almost

I will immediately explain why I noted that this phone is perfect for me. The fact is that the only truly large jamb F3 is that he has a completely non-working approach sensor. Xiaomi was not installed as an experiment, but an ultrasonic sensor, and it does not work. And this means that during the conversation the screen is constantly ignited, you click something with a cheek, put the interlocutor in a pause, break the calls and so on. And those who are used to calling, putting the phone to the ear, it will be stuck to the blood from the eyes. Yes, of course, you can get the same and getting used to turning the “caller”, go out on the lock screen, but this is in any case a drawback.

From the defeat of F3, modern trends are saved. Firstly, they communicate in a voice now less and less. Secondly, I personally have already moved to the headset for a long time, so they do not interfere with the problems with the sensor. Thirdly, everything else-with a discount on the price-was made great. But this in no way cancels a significant shortage of the model. If you know how to fix it, write in the comments – we will check and add this method here. The phone is worthy.

Appearance

Poco delivery kit is simple: a pretty black and yellow box made of thick cardboard, a 27 watts charger, a USB Type-C cable and a transparent cover, which will surely darken over time. The phone itself is a standard rectangle. Thin, as is customary in flagships, light, elongated and rather seized. In front and behind it is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 glass. In theory, it should not be afraid of any blows or scratches, but in four months without a case I have a back panel around the perimeter all covered with small scratches. Therefore https://sister-site.org/slots-muse/, by the way, I recommend taking the phone in the most bright colors as possible (blue or brand new white, as here in the photo): repeat my mistake and order the “mirror” I do not recommend. Yes, it is convenient to shoot itself as the main camera, but instantly covers with fingerprints and looks dirty.

Do not find fault with the assembly quality. If in the same Galaxy A72 and the panels swayed, and the edging walked slightly, then the monolith is a monolith – nothing dispersed in four months. Similarly with the buttons: the volume swing and the power key are moderately hard, do not walk and in my case they clearly stood under the thumb. Another huge plus: a fingerprint sensor is built into the power button. And he works exactly as it should: pressed – unlocked. Subscribed sensors to such accuracy and speed as to the moon.

But what F3 is not enough is good dust and moisture protection. If the Galaxy A72 was declared IP67, with which you can even fall into the river accidentally, then F3 is certified by IP53 and is afraid of everything that is more serious than small spray and sand.

On the screen, the alignment is as follows: 6.7 inches at AMOLED with a frequency of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 1300 KD/m2. I can’t say that this is the best that I saw – you need a permission higher than Full HD – but this. In the life of the display, F3 is enough for work under the bright sun, and in a dark room. The color reproduction, by the way, is characteristic of AMOLED: a bright, oversaturated picture with a very deep black (albeit with a minimum of shades) and yellowish white. Immediately I note the frequency of 120 Hz: it hurts to return after them to the usual 60 Hz – the picture in the scroll seems to be smeared on the screen.

As for the external strapping, then everything you need: WiFi at 5 GHz, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC and two SIM cards. The connector is only one: USB Type-C with the possibility of fast charging up to 33 watts. Audiojack, unfortunately, no. Four months ago, I cursed for this – but today, having completely gone to the wireless sets/headphones and forgetting about high -quality sound, I have resigned myself and perceive for granted for granted. No and no. I also note that there is no slot for memory cards. Here I will be neat: I do not shoot video, I do not upload films and play one or two games, so I haven’t enough for my eyes 256 GB, but also 128. Therefore, here orient yourself according to your needs and make a verdict yourself.

As for the sound, the dynamics of F3 are excellent: they transmit stereo well, they cope with YouTube, games and series. The volume reserve is also enough: in traffic you can even listen to the news of gambling without external audio devices. The speakers do normally with the voice of the interlocutors, but, as I said, this option is not particularly useful due to problems with the approaching sensor.

Performance

Now about the main thing. The Poco F3 database lies 8-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 870. In fact, this is the same 865th chip, but with slightly increased maximum frequencies. Let me remind you that the 865th is the flagship processor of 2019, and it was on it, for example, that one of the versions gathered Samsung Galaxy S20. And today this chip drags no worse: you can not look at and install any modern game – it will not slow down.

In numbers, it means the following. 3DMark (Wild Life) – 4149, Geekbench – 3525, Genshin Impact on maximum shoes-42-44 FPS with rare failures up to 23, Lineage 2m In the "Extreme" mode – 30 FPS with periodic subsidence up to 24. You can not even remember about simpler 2D projects: perfectly. Purely for comparison, I’ll say that the top one today 888 goes forward by about a quarter (for a comparable increase in the price), and Snapdragon 720g Samsung A72 is doubled (for plus 5,000 rubles).

True, I spent all the tests on the top version of the phone with 8 GB of RAM. How are things on versions with 6 GB, I can't say. In theory, the general perception of the apparatus should not change, but I have no exact numbers.

As for the performance of the operating system, then I have no questions to it. Poco F3 naturally "flies" and, most importantly, does without noticeable glitches. For all the time of use, I have shipped only a panel with the “home” and “back” buttons, but it was treated with turning on and turning the screen.

I note that Android works under the shell Miui. It is customary to scold her among the people, but to be honest, I still did not understand why. The only thing I did not like: notifications here look like only from left to right, and on naked Android – in both directions. At first it was annoyed, now already used to. Otherwise, I personally like Miui rather: the animations are smooth, the icons are pretty, the news spin on the blocked screen, different melodies of the alarm clock are placed in the morning, depending on the weather outside the window; SMS, calls, basic programs and menu work exactly as I expect. What else to desire from the system is honest, I don't know. Oh yes, the OS battery is also not really eating. With active use without games (see photos), the charge is easily enough from 9 a.m. to 10 pm.

Cameras

Now about cameras. There are four of them: frontal, basic, macro and width. The quality of shooting in the last two is objectively so -so: detailing upon closer examination at any gate, and night shooting is absent as a class. The main camera is better – this is 48 MP Quad Bayer from Sony – But when the closer examination, she smears objects, cannot really draw the boundaries and incredibly strongly presses the noise. At night (in the city, when there is enough light) she behaves better than her neighbors, but she is very far from the top sensors. But this is from a technical point of view.

In life, the main camera makes a photo of such quality that they are not ashamed to download them on social networks or showing their relatives: no one will understand from the phone screen that you have a mid-budget apparatus, and not something a preferential. Normally under such conditions passes the width – the main thing is not to let it go to night photos. But macro and selfie, no matter how you look at them, are weak. The first is the sharpness and low resolution. The second is a wide angle that damages facial features from close range.

I will say separately about the video: it is quite realistic to shoot it, but only from the main camera.

In the end

As I already said at the very beginning, in my way of life (without calls and the use of the front camera) Poco F3 is ideal. Yes, I do not like his selfie camera and an approximation sensor, but these are the disadvantages that do not bother me. A great screen, high performance, good battery and normal main camera are much more important to me. And, of course, the price with a good fork: the option for 6/128 GB can be found for 26,000 rubles, 8/256 GB – for 32,000. You know the models more worthy – write in the comments: I will try to get and check.
