Synopsis
In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, is given a high-profile job for which she is ill-suited, with tectonic implications for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced both American & British governments to allow them to use real environments as filming locations for the series, including the still recent US embassy (at Nine Elms) which opened in 2018. Britain allowed filming inside the Foreign Secretary’s office, a rare honor given to any film or film production , especially American.

Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest plot of residential land (11 hectares) in London other than Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes. My God! Season 1 ended on a cliffhanger of gigantic proportions.
I don’t know if my heart can handle Season 3
Season 2 almost gave me a heart attack in the last few minutes of Season 2. At first, I thought this was a pivotal, slow-burning political drama. Maybe another type of *feel good* TV drama like Madame Secretary.
Boy, was I right
Diplomat will keep you on the edge of your seat in every episode. Binge on looking at them like a starving animal. This is political theater at its best.
It’s even more than my wildest dreams
Even if it’s only 1 tenth of the truth of what REALLY goes on in American politics and the various agencies (CIA, Secret Service, Diplomacy) it’s still a wild ride. Keri Russell is once again in a strong female lead role that reminded me why I like it so much. loved her performance in "The Americans" She is extraordinary!
