In this short video, IMDb tries to answer: Where is Batman?
Synopsis
After the events of “Batman” (2022), Oz Cobb, aka The Penguin, is trying to seize control of Gotham’s underworld. Aside from the final shot of the bat signal in the season finale, we’ve never gotten a Robert Pattinson cameo in The Penguin. Colin Farrell fought hard for his version of The Penguin to smoke tobacco in Batman (2022), but it didn’t work out. However, in his own series, the character is portrayed as a casual tobacco user who prefers cigars.
It fits perfectly with the atmosphere
The DC Studios logo is located in a rainy Gotham alley. An umbrella falls and the logo changes to Warner Bros.’ logo. Graham Norton & Guests: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). Dirty, grimy, and dark, but Farrell manages to capture that charm that Tony Soprano Gandolfini managed.
Where to start with Farrell
There’s a similarity to the Sopranos, especially in tone. There’s a lot of darkness in this first episode, but there are still moments of humor that fit the tone without overwhelming it. Amazing is the right word. I love seeing talented star actors fully commit to characters like this, and the makeup/CG or whatever they did to turn him into a Penguin not only passes the eye test, but also looks incredibly realistic.
And Farrell, as an actor, is completely immersed in this character
If the makeup isn’t enough or a little off, there’s always a risk that it’ll be a complete distraction. In the case of the Penguin, it adds to his game and the overall quality of the show, because he does such a good job. I may be a little biased because he was one of my favorite actors before this show, but I think this gives him the credit he deserves. I never get into new shows all at once because I like to binge watch all the episodes at once, but I wanted to see how it actually turned out.
Kudos to everyone involved in this project
It didn’t disappoint, it really blew me away. Check out our review of Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2, Squid Games Season 2, and other highly anticipated new and returning TV and streaming series.
